Connor & Gaskins Unlimited has been awarded the task of renovating 25,000 hotel rooms across 26 states for Starwood Capital Group’s InTown Suites Extended Stay flag. The first phase, now nearing its completion, is the complete renovation of 26 different hotel properties across eight states. The second phase, that is currently rolling out, includes renovating hotel rooms in 162 different hotels across 22 states. All of this work is to be completed before Christmas of this year!
CGU has a team of 15 personnel dedicated to this project and they have been planning, acquiring materials, securing warehouse space and surveying each room at every property on an individual basis. This work was completed on schedule by CGU’s committed staff throughout the pandemic.
One of CGU’s biggest strength is doing what most other General Contractors do not do – we perform as Construction Managers on behalf of the owner. CGU manages all the logistics, bidding, contracting, scheduling and overall supervision of the work. The team at CGU has electronically surveyed each room, designed a new floor plan and laid it out in its entirety – from the location of the kitchen sink to where the artwork is hung. A Master Purchase document was developed for each room, property and regional warehouse from the plan layouts. The flow of all material is managed by an online, real-time software system to coordinate the numerous contractors on multiple properties in a variety of regions to assure quality on-time, on-budget delivery of the finished product.
